“I was raving about you to the mayor’s office. It would have been such an inconvenience to the public if I had to shut down this bridge.

As a testament to what the service can do, you avoided the closure, because I had data that could prove it to the state.

Tim Hawkins, Director of Public Works, City of Dearborn

The sensor sits above a road or waterway and measures depth via ultrasonic pulse (sonar). It doesn’t touch the water (no biofouling or tedious calibration), and stays out of the way of traffic and pedestrians.

Hyfi sensors are totally wireless: data is sent over the cellular network, and the battery is recharged via solar panel.

The sensor comes as one piece, purposefully designed to make installation and maintenance as easy as possible. The whole thing swaps out in two minutes with a screwdriver.

Proven reliability, even through hurricanes.

Hyfi sensors report what satellites miss and keep working though thunderstorms, hurricanes, and ice storms without loss of precision.

Built with a weather-proof, military-grade outer casing, the device stays protected from the elements.

Easy to maintain sensors = reliable data

Hyfi water level sensors are the most reliable on the market because we've purposefully designed them to be extremely easy to maintain.

Daily quality inspection — we run a multi-stage quality assurance and control (QAQC) process on data coming in from all Hyfi sensors. This includes multiple levels of automated checks, but also daily manual review of sensor data. All of this means that if something does go wrong, we catch it right away.

Quick and easy sensor replacement — Hyfi sensors are simple to install and replace. If a sensor malfunctions for any reason, we send a new one in the mail, shipping included. Sensors can be swapped out in under five minutes with a screwdriver. As soon as the new device is in, you’re back to collecting high quality data.

Alignment with local reference points — Our priority is making the data as useful to you as possible. When a new sensor goes in, we work with our partners to make sure the readings align with their expectations, including what is being measured at local reference points like staff gauges and survey markers. Your dashboard can be set up to display water level measurements as depth, NAVD88 elevation, or any datum you prefer.

Turn your Hyfi dashboard into a one-stop shop by integrating other data sources, including NOAA weather data and USGS gauges.

A website dashboard displays rainfall data with a graph showing daily rain levels and a spreadsheet listing date, time, depth, elevation, and rainfall rate. An overlay window with spreadsheet details is also visible.

Easily export your data to spreadsheets, pdf, or powerpoint slides. Share data with the public by embedding Hyfi data as a widget on your website, or by setting up a public-facing dashboard.
